First sorry mods if this is the wrong forum, but I wasn't sure. I recently sent a "no atr" card to the Eastern US from Canada to see if it could be fixed. Card arrived, was worked on and consequently could not be repaired using an unlooper with a super chip. The card when sent had no physical damage (marks or cuts) to the chip whatsoever. When the card left the unloopers, also no physical marks, damage etc. Have dealt with the unlooper people before and they have an excellent reputation.
Card came back today with a cut (exacto knife?) across the 1st and 2nd lines that run through the middle of the chip. It looks like they tried to hide the cut on the lines but you can actually see where they cut almost right through to the other side of the card. The envelope that the card was sent in had been opened by customs and had a sticker verifying this.
Surely one of our fine customs or postal workers could not have done this, heh, heh. Anyways I'm thankful the card was already dead but was hoping for some new fixes in the future. Has anyone else had this happen?
