First, you need an oval dish to pick up both birds?

The 119 has HD stuff, like HBO etc..

What about major network HD stuff? Do you have to use the HD tuner built into the unit with an antenna to get those locally? Or does DirecTv broadcast HD over locals on the other satellite also?

If you need to use the antenna, do they require thos big monsters on the roof of years past? Or are the antennas smaller and discrete you place indoors?

Thanks

Yes

Yes

DTV does not send HD network singnals. You will need to use the OTA (over the air) input on the receiver fed by an antenna. The type of attena you need will depend on your location. Check out hometheaterspot.com or avsforums.com for more info.

Thanks for the info.

One other thing, what if I have digital cable, don't they send the signals in High Def? I know, wrong forum, but just curious.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with digital cable.

There are a couple markets with HD available from cableTV. Usually only a network or two (CBS is popular, lotsa native HD).

As suggested above, check out avsforum.com or hometheaterspot.com, there are a jillion discussions on what cable in what market is carrying which content.

Good Luck
