Simple question. I have 2 4th and 3rd gen IRD's. Will they work with a new eliptical dish? I'm thinking of adding a 3rd High def IRD to the home system.

Yep. The non-plus IRDs work jus' fine with the oval dish. They DO NOT get anything from the 119 sat though because they do not generate the necessary 22KHz "tone" that the multiswitch uses to switch to the "B" sat.

There are devices you can put on the line to manually switch the multiswitch (a 22KHz Tone generator - ChannelMaster), but it's a pain in the butt.

Good Luck

You can run two strands of coax to an A - B switch and toggle back and forth for locals and Para Todos channels. You can even use 110W, hooked into 119W with a C Kit and get those locals, as well. I've had the setup for 6 months now!

A/B tone generation switches(1-4 generation IRDs) are about $30 a piece. with the spot beam sat. coming into play why waste the money. probably in a couple of months we will only be able to get the local locals anyway
