I do know its about selling subscriptions (Grey Market.) But where does hacking it come in? If the SC says in the end Canadains are not allowed to have Grey Market systems.. fine.. dont grey it then.. hack it. I really thought this whole thing was about selling subs in Canada.. not hacking American sats.

No flame plz.. I just been wanting to ask this for awhile and now seems like the right time.

I have read all the posts.. reading the BC court ruling doesnt really say that hacking was wrong.. providing US address for grey marketing and grey market itself was wrong.

Im just wondering is all.

Hi People,

This is about section 9 (1) c and 10 (1) b of the RC Act.

Try reading the act and see if it mentions either GREY or BLACK.

Once you bother to do that you will quickly understand that this is about the RIGHT to RECEIVE the signal whether you pay for it or not. The law does NOT mention that when a signal that the act DOES NOT cover (such as the DirecTV® signal that does NOT eminate from a "lawful distributor") is received, whether it has to be paid for or not. It is SILENT on that issue.

In Canada, when the law is silent on something (that means it is NOT prohibited) then it is PERMITTED. Our law mentions ONLY that which is "prohibited" and if something is NOT prohibited, then it is permitted.

I hope that is not too difficult for people to understand. In the law there is no such thing as "grey" or "black" and so it is about the right to receive a foreign signal that is encrypted.

If it is permitted to be received then receive it however you can.

Notice that the LAW does not hold your hand about "Grey" or "Black", does not wipe your ass and does not supply the toilet paper either :)

You actually have to THINK a little. Hope that does not disturb some folks too much :)

In other words the law is NOT simple, you have to work at it a bit.
