Hi guys,
I have strange problem now. After I replace single LNB on brand new - out of box RCA system, I was able to catch satellite signal for the first time in 3 days. But it does not lock. It shows signal strenght ocasionally, the peak signal goes as high as 88 and it does not lock.
What may be a problem?
Thanks

Tnanks for response Cellular.
Yes it's a new installation, I think I fugure out what is a problem. There is a tree above the dish, I cut some bunches to make open view to where compass shows a satellite is. But I did not realize how high it may be. When wind bends bunches on top of the tree at those moments I'm getting signal. So I'm going to cut some more bunches and may be relocate the dish lower.
Another question arise: I have elevation setting 3 degree lower than it suppose to be according to my zip code. Mast is leveled.
Is this normal? Or I may be pointing to the wrong satellite?
This is my first installation that's why I'm not sure.
Thanks

I knew it , it happen because it is summer .it easy to see it wait for strong wind and the signal goes from 0 - to 90 -90 000 --90 because the tree is moving

you need a steady signal to lock.my guess is the tree branches are blocking.something like a bouncing afect.

I have a Sony system that exhibits the same behavior only when used with an older Sony Dual LNB. The SAT-B2s I have show locked at 95, the Sat-B50Ds bounce from 90 to 0 to 90 to 0 and only some transponders lock.
I took the Sat-B50Ds to a friends with old RCA Dual LNB and it is rock solid at 90+ on his. Could the fact that they pulled the signal seeker off the LNB and made it an in-line installation only thing be related to this? I was thinking that since my older DUAL LNB has the signal seeker built-in, maybe it is trying to draw too much power, something these newer boxes can't deliver.
Please help

Sounds like you got the problem taken care of.
If you know your Latitude (North / South of the Equator), that's the angle that the signal arrives from. The dishes are offset vertically about 8 degrees, I'm guessing to reduce snow load & other debris from accumulating on the lower edge of the dish.
Regarding the pulsed signal lock on Sony's.....
All of my Sony's exhibit this behavior, I don't know for a fact, but I believe it IS tied to the "signal seeker" system Sony uses with their dishes (I have always had an RCA dish). I've been running for years with the "problem" and it hasn't seemed to made any difference in the quality or strength of the received signal.
