Prob. programming remote

Hi all,

I have an RCA system that came with a universal remote. I have tried all of the 4 digit codes in the book to program my Sharp TV and no luck. This remote won't accept 3 digit codes either. Now, My TV is about 8 years old. I know this is old but maybe someone here knows a "universal" code for the universal remote or some other codes I may try. I have a JVC VCR that's about 7 years old and the remote works it. I have a Magnavox TV that's about 4 years old and the remote works it. What is really odd is that I have a new (less than 1 year old) Orion VCR and the remote WON'T work it and there is only 1 code in the book for it so I'm not so sure that age is the problem. I have tried the direct entry as well as the automatic code search for the TV and VCR.

Is my TV too old? If so, anything I can do with the VCR besides get another one?
Here is whats inside the remote, nothing jumps out and says "model number" but one of these should be it.

Those codes won't work. The remote doesn't accept 3 digit codes. When I attempt to use them the LED on the remote just blinks where as, when I try the 4 digit codes the light goes off until I hit the last # in the code. (As it should). Also, yes my TV does use an IR remote.

I think I'm going to buy a different brand universal remote and give that a shot. (Beats buying a new TV). I would appreciate any 4 digit codes you might come across that aren't listed in the RCA DSS user manual. (If there is any others).

I had a Sharp once and never could get a universal remote to work with it. If you buy one to try make sure they have a return policy and keep the receipt.

if that is a new rca remote you can use the search feature.press and hold down the tv button while doing that press and hold down the power button do this until you see the little red light on the remote turn on and stay on.now press the play button on your remote once you will see the red light blink about 5 times waite for it to stop then press play again it will blink 5 times again do this until you tv turns off once it dose turn off press the rev button until it turns back on then hit the stop button and you are done i hope this helps you and others r505
