STATEMENT FROM MIKE TYSON ABOUT THE CANCELED FIGHT AGAINST RAY MERCER

"This is a business and I'm sure Ray understands why I need to take Lennox out now! Lennox made me an offer that I could not refuse and it is time to give the people what they want. The heavyweight championship is my destiny and I need those belts on my waist again. So keep taking those acting lessons Lennox because your next role will be playing Cinderella and I am gonna break your little glass chin!"

This is the freakin politics of Boxing...
I can see exactly what is going on,anyway MIKEY! This time you should have fought a caliber fighter before .
Cause now you are going DOWN...

I heard on the Fox News channel on Friday that Lennox was going to sue Tyson if he didn't fight him right away. They also said that Iron Mike is broke. How does a person squander away 200 million bucks???

Now back on the subject..
I don't think Mikey is broke but this is a good move by Emanuel. He sees that Lennox is in exellent shape and the time is right for them to fight Tyson.
If Lewis Wins or should I say when he wins :) I personally think he should Retire and leave with Glory..unlike Evander.

They never retire when they should. Lennox never looked better than he had in his last fight. Tyson will be no match for him. But, money will keep Lennox from retiring.

In my opinion, Tyson doesn't deserve the belts nor this match. He's only fought once a year for the last three, and only with sub par fighters.

I'll freak if he gets a lucky shot in and wins the fight.

I'm not sure if this is true or not, but they're saying the fight will be a $50 million payout for Mike. :(

Its 100% true, unless of course Tyson fakes an injury or something. I dont believe a date has been set yet, all I have heard is in the spring sometime.

Lewis Gets Revenge On Rahman


LONDON (Reuters) - World heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis is ready to quit boxing if he beats Mike Tyson in April, the BBC Sport Web site reported on Monday.

``When Muhammad Ali was champion there was also Joe Frazier and George Foreman at the highest level,'' said Lewis.

``In my era there has been myself, Evander Holyfield and Tyson. I've already fought Holyfield twice so Tyson would be the final piece of the jigsaw,'' said the 36-year-old Briton at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony on Sunday evening.

``Once I have beaten Tyson I'll leave it to the younger guys coming through.''

Lewis won back the World Boxing Council (WBC) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) titles last month when he knocked out American Hasim Rahman in the fourth round in Las Vegas.

Lewis' trainer Emmanuel Steward said last week that the fight with Tyson would take place on April 6.

Tyson, 35, is rated the number one contender for Lewis' WBC and IBF crowns.

I don't think Lewis can catch Tyson with the classic left jab right cross that knocked out Rahman. If he runs and jabs like he did in some of his other fights he might pull out a decision, but Tyson might also disqualify himself out of frustration. and...it don't take much to frustrate Mike.

Toe to toe, mike is gonna make him hurt bad. Body shots thrown by Mike break ribs and lacerate kidneys. This could be the best and final test of Lewis. If he passes it he deserves to retire as the unified Heavyweight Champ of the World.

I agree,
Lennox will not stand toe to toe,he is a much BETTER boxer and can easily win with points. The worse thing to do is to get in a slug fest with the Biter. I'm sorry but Tyson really touches a sore spot,he has broke more darn rules than all other boxers put together and still fights. He should have been banned for life after he bit Evanders EAR.

Does Lennox no have the WBA belt also? If he doesn't, who does? You are right about Tyson being banned for life vic! Tyson should not be able to fight again till Pete Rose is in the Hall of Fame!!!

John Ruiz, has the (WBA belt) he is fighting Holyfield this coming Saturday 12/15.01..Unless that gets cancelled,seems like a lot of that going on lately..lol
It's the Ricky Hatten fight that I'm gonna like watching,thats on Showtime 5pm est 12/15/01. This kid's got a great future,although I've only seen him one time I was impressed.We will see, I maybe making a premature judgement.
