Default Star Choice - two dishes different locations?

Just a quick question, a family member has Star Choice and just upgraded to some additional receivers for the bedroom etc, In the process they also came and installed a new sat. dish. I took the old dish and one of the new receivers to my place down the road. My question is, can I use the older Star Choice sat. dish with the newer receiver. I know they have an "Away From Home" package, but I'd rather just use the old dish and connect it myself to the new receiver.

I've read a few posts on here, but nothing that clearly states whether this will work if you're sat dishes are different, and at different locations (they're both Star Choice dishes - one's just an older model) ???

Thanks for your help...

I have a similar situation.
I moved last fall and Starchoice provided me with a new dish employing the non-stacked LNB. I have three ancient receivers, 301, 401 & 305. Starchoice had to change what I believe to be the "V" code.
I have an old dish with a stacked LNB at my "away from home location". I have to phone Starchoice whenever I take one of the receivers to that location. They will send a signal to change the "V" code. It has worked everytime.
I was told that I cannot use the self serve refresh option to perform this function.
Except for the long wait time when contacting Starchoice there appears to be no problem.

Default need help with star choice

Today I moved my operating dish from my house to my portable stand in preparation for a RV road trip.

I used an Align - sight to dial in the co ordinates along with a signal meter.

I cannot get a green light on my reciever and I cannot get a signal higher than 23 on the on screen set up.

Could I have a bad LNB,reciever or other hardware. Or am I not doing something correctly. Star Choice tech support was no help at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards

When you set up your dish make sure are good and level. Then when you start to move dish be extra slow and real small moves when you get your highest signal lock it down then move elevation. once you set your tilt do not move it again good luck i just spent a hour on one in Yuma Az. before I got green signal
