Autotune / Scheduler Function

Can someone here help me with a question about Autotune on a 'standard' directv receiver?

Specifically D12-300. No info in the user guide and DTV rep has no info on this either.

My question is should the receiver turn it self off after the autotune event is done?

If I set program channel with autotune, then turn the receiver off, the receiver will power up and tune to the selected channel when the time and date arrives. However, the receiver does not shut off when the program is complete. It seems rendundant that I should have to enter the duration of the event if it doesn't turn off when it is done.

My old Hughs receiver from 1999 worked just fine and had functions like turbo menu for 9 favorite channels (now only found on the high-end receiver).

If anyone here uses autotune on a standard receiver to schedule shows for external recording, please tell me if the receiver will shut-off automatically.
