I have a 4th gen RCA myself. I keep it turned off during the day and turn it on when I want to watch TV in the bedroom. Due to the short amount of time that it is on I can say that there isn't a heat problem.

I can be sitting there and the receiver will just turn itself off and back on again. It will say "Searching for Satellite signal" and then go to a channel that I haven't watched in awhile. Really strange.

I myself have seen this happen a few times, in fact it happened yesterday. But tonight something even more weird happened. I was cooking dinner, and all of a sudden I realized I didnt hear tv anymore. I went in there, pressed the power button and nothing. My receiver is dead. When I unplug it and plug it back in, the power light flashes for a second as usual, but still it will not turn on. It had good airflow, and was never tampered with or opened for any reason. It was on a surge strip so a power surge is also out of the question.

Any ideas?
