Around late 1999 the first Big Brother show premiered in Holland and
then later appeared in the US in the Summer of 2000.

But I still say that they had to buy the idea from peepshack.com. I
saw on one of the afternoon shows in late 1998 about this site which
had three strippers living in the a house that was wired with live
video 24/7. Not to be confused with voyuerdorm. I think this stripper
appeared on the Jenny Jones show. And for research purposes checked
out the site to see what was going on with a free trial. And one
time this stripper was actually voted out of the house because two of
the three strippers were having a problem with each other. Four
'shackmasters' who where moderators (or just regulars) and the guy who
ran the site in a private chat decided someone had to go and the five
of them voted someone out circa December 1998. That had to be the
first internet eviction.

Around March 1999 the site was going downhill(from what I read) and it
was bought out by 'Germans'. I always wondered if they sold the rights
to De Mol. If not there is a big loophole in the copyright.

Here what the site looked like in December 1998 from archive.org

The original BIG BROTHER was from George Orwell's Novel 1984... written
in 1949 during the McCarthy era to rid America of Communist
sympathizers...

Orwell was a disillusioned British communist. America had nothing to
do with it.
